Match Report

Just as 3United, ReUnited was up for an early start this Saturday against 2012 champion Shooters FC at Waigaoqiao. Whilst a few key ReU players were missing, recent results in test games and on the first league game day gave confidence that a victory is within reach.

The game started intense with Shooters trying to outrun the ReUnited defense with their fast offensive line. ReU was on par though and created decent chances on their own. Half an hour into the first half the ReU defense was taken by surprise though: a free kick-trick from the edge of the box passed the wall at the inside and ended in the short corner of the goal. Still in shock from the first goal, just a few minutes later Shooters intercepted a high ball from ReU which landed at the feet of striker Kevin Wiessler, who had no problem converting to 2:0.

ReU did not give up the fight though, and especially after halftime came much better into the game. Shooters became tired and the pressure intensified, especially after Alex Pozhar converted a corner with a header to the 1:2. ReU was pressing now and the equalizer was within reach, Shooters focused on counter attacks. However one of these counter attacks eventually sealed the deal for them, and for the second time that day Kevin Wiessler converted with a well-placed shot to the bottom right corner to a final score of Shooters 3 – Reunited 1.
