Match Report

On a beautiful autumn day, the Cosmos face off against 3United. Both teams knew going into the game that it would be tough, hard-fought match – and they did not disappoint. The first half saw 3United dominating possession of the ball but it was Jordan Campbell on one of his lethal breakaways that scored first. Sergio Parla Munoz tried to answer with a goal of his own a few minutes later only for it to be cleared out off the line by a defender. 3United pressured with a few more shots but the Cosmos keeper made a good effort to stop each once. But the Cosmos did not relent and {NAME} was able to but another goal away to put the Cosmos up 2-0 at the half.

3United’s spirit was not quashed however. They started the second half with renewed fervor but it was only in the 65th minute that Vernon Tebong Mbah was able to get 3United on the board, handling the ball strongly in box and putting it by the keepers outstretched hands. The next 15 minutes remained scoreless but 3United’s Sergio Parla Munoz was able to redeem himself with a beautiful shot from down the end line, going off the crossbar into goal to tie the game. Five minutes later Vernon Tebong Mbah received another ball in the box and turning 2 defenders and the keeper was able to tap the ball into the corner of the net for 3U’s 3rd goal and first lead of the game. The Cosmos did their best in the last 5 minutes to put in a tying goal but alas 3United held onto their lead and beat the Cosmos for the first time in 2 years. Final score 3-2 to 3United in a comeback win full of well-disciplined play and a lot of heart.
