Match Report

Fuelled by our 3:0 win against the Shooters we wanted to show that we can beat any team in the league, taking on reigning champion and leader of the table the Puxi Lions in an early morning encounter in Waigaoqiao.

From the start our players took on the initiative and pressed the Lions deep into their half. After 13 minutes it was Joseph Mandela Ngueguim beating the deadlock to put ReUnited 1:0 upfront. Ten minutes later Mandela had another good chance but clashed with his head into the knee of Lions defender Remy de Carvalho Ferreira. After spitting a bit of blood he stood up and was able to continue, but as time went on the Lions came more and more back into the game and where able to equalize when Charles Georg played a flat ball from the left wing into the middle for an easy tap in by Romain Haution.  We were now in shock and the Lions controlled the game.
The second half saw both teams with equal ball possession and good chances on both sides. In the dying minutes of the game our makeshift keeper and usual winger Adam Kling made a brilliant save when Azzeddine Takouloufa was up alone against him and it stayed 1:1 until the end in a fair and even game. Steve Ishemezwe and Romain Haution shared man of the match honours.
