After last week’s draw against Lions we were ready to come back strongly against HStone FC. Our opponent failed to arrive on time, so when we started the game with a 10-minute delay we pressured them deep into their half from the very first minute. We got close to scoring a few times but it took us some 20 minutes until the first goal. It was Tobi who got the ball in the center of the box and passed it to the right side where Thomas was taking a shot to put it under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead. Minutes later Tobi did it all by himself and grabbed the ball in midfield, sprinted towards the goal and left the keeper no chance with a beautiful lob – ReU 2 vs HStone nothing. The game got rougher now and unfortunately both Ross and Glenn suffered some injuries at that time and had to go off the pitch. This made us struggle a bit more but the scoreline stayed 2-0 at halftime.
We started the second half like the first one – with full steam ahead. The first scene was an offside goal scored by Alvaro, but just one minute later Sascha took a shot from outside the box. The shot got deflected by the defender and left the keeper no chance – 3-0. Moments later Tobi took a shot from a similar distance and also this shot found the back of the net in the top left corner of the goal. These fast goals broke HStone’s spirit and we kept on playing our game. Some minutes later David Wang sprinted into the box and got fouled by a defender, a clear penalty. Tobi took again the responsibility and made it 5-0. This was not the end of it though. Tobi got his 4th goal shortly thereafter and then it was again Sascha’s turn who brought a beautiful bicycle kick on goal and made it 7-0. Frustration mounted at HStone and their striker who had seen a yellow card before already furiously kicked Flo’s leg with no ball in sight. The referee had no choice but to give him his second yellow of the day which meant an early shower for him. After that Tobi managed to get his name on the goalscoring sheet two more times making it a record 9-0 win for us. Deservedly he received man of the match honors. We look forward to next week’s cup battle against Lions and hope to see our injured players back on the pitch as soon as possible!
