Fueled by our solid 3-0 win against 3rd placed Shooters the week before we were filled with motivation for Saturday’s league game against Azzurri. With only three games left in the season and the title still within reach, a victory was our only goal that day.

We started with Cody in goal and Thomas, Will, Seb and David in defense. Karsten played holding midfield, Steve started next to Ronald in offensive midfield. Comeback king Mandela, Alex and Sebastian Andersson started in our offensive line. Luismi, Glenn, Robb, Lucas and Felix completed our squad. Adam had suffered a small injury earlier that week but still came to support the team from the sideline.

The game started with mostly midfield action. We wear able to get some attacks in the danger zone, however we did not create too many clear chances in the first minutes. On the other side we were able to curtail Azzurri’s offensive efforts, so most of the game action happened in midfield. Towards the end of first half we stepped up the pressure, however the first half ended with a goalless draw.

Second half we turned up the heat. Our attacks were rolling on Azzurri’s goal now and it was Sebastian Andersson who converted the first one into a goal. After a long ball from Luismi in Minute 51 Sebastian dribbled from the left side into the box and put the ball with a beautiful shot towards the far post into the goal. We did not relent though. Just four minutes later Steve dribbled into the box and extended our lead 2-0. We were in full control of the game now. Azzurri did not come close enough to our box and operated mostly with long balls on their striker. We used our fast offensive players to create more chances and it was in minute 83 when Steve eventually sealed the deal and finished a counter attack to make it 3-0. Azzurri tried still to make it back and had a close chance with a distance shot on the crossbar, however it remained a well-deserved 3-0 victory for ReU.

Now there are only two games left this season and all eyes are on the big game against Lions on Saturday, which will be decisive for this year’s championship.
